The new drilling rig will not only help AOG reduce costs, but it will also allow the company to better control its drilling schedule without relying on independent contractors.

The rig is big! Over the road, it is 62 feet long and 14 feet high, and its 90,000 pound weight is carried on five axles and 16 large tires. It requires special road permits and chase vehicles in front and rear. On location, the mast raises to approximately 100 feet high. To get an idea of how deep the rig can drill, the next time you are on a long straight stretch of highway, safely pick a start point, such as a bridge and reset the trip odometer. At the end of one mile look back to see how far you have gone. The rig has a lifting capacity of 120,000 pounds to pull the weight of all that pipe back to the surface.
The rig made the 300 mile trek from Mt. Morris, PA to Martha, KY late last summer. Since that time, AOG hired a crew to operate the rig. The crew has successfully drilled nine wells under the watchful eye of Construction Foreman Greg Maxie. AOG plans to drill more than thirty wells with the new rig by the end of 2008.

Best Places to Work - Pittsburgh Business Times 2007

Ranked 7th for small companies and taking 8th place overall, ABARTA Oil & Gas Company’s Pittsburgh office employees once again proved their job satisfaction through their responses to the survey questions.
